Android app development
Android is the practical choice when your teams use a mixed fleet of handsets, when devices are bought in volume or when the work happens on rugged hardware with barcode scanners. We build applications that behave predictably across that spread of screens, chipsets and OS versions rather than only on the newest phone in the office.
What this involves
We begin by establishing which devices and Android versions the application actually has to support, because that decision shapes the build far more than any other. A specification and estimate follow, then development in short cycles with builds shared through Google Play internal testing so your staff can try each version on their own handsets. Where the work involves scanners, printers or kiosk mode we test on the hardware you use, not on an emulator. Release includes the Play Console listing, the Data safety declaration and the content rating questionnaire, followed by handover of the code, the signing keys and the documentation.

Timelines and pricing
Timelines and pricing are quoted per project after a discovery call. The estimate follows the discovery call and covers the scope, the stages and the payment schedule, so there is nothing to sign before you have seen it in writing.
Questions about android app development
Can you support older handsets that are still in service?
Usually yes. We agree a minimum supported Android version during discovery, based on the devices your teams actually hold rather than on market averages. Supporting older versions costs a little more in testing time, and we tell you what that trade-off is before the specification is signed off.
Do we need to distribute through Google Play?
Not necessarily. Applications used only by your own staff can be distributed privately through Google Play's managed distribution or through your mobile device management system. We advise on which route fits your setup and configure it as part of the release.
Who holds the app signing key?
The key belongs with your company. We use Google Play App Signing so the upload key can be rotated without breaking updates, and we document the arrangement at handover so a future developer can take over without losing access to the listing.
